Very short post.

Does Apple hate people?
As they did with the first Apple silicon iMacs, they now show the BACK of the new iMacs to show all the gorgeous colors of them.
But of course the front side which you will spend most time looking at, is the same idiotic pastel color.
Why?
Very annoyed even though I can't afford to buy any of them. Still "rocking" the mini from 2012.

It’s the same reason they can’t display the beautiful colors of the iPhone on the front. It’s the screen and they don’t want to put a distracting border around it.

If you think people lost their minds about the white border, could you imagine an orange border around the screen? Who would dare do such a thing! Tech nerds around the world would lose their collective…

I like the colors saturated on the back and desaturated on the front. Makes sense for viewing the screen. Having a strong primary color in view would change the brain's perception of the other colors in view. Remember the blue/gold dress?
Maybe unimportant for casual browsers, but very important for anyone working with color graphics or images, who don't want their perceived color vision being skewed by the presence of a strong adjacent color

There have been more than one occasions where a computer/screen had non dead colors. Even Apple did it.

And yet you'll find people on these very forums losing their minds about the colors they do have.

If I had to guess, I'd say the logic is that the front of the machine is intended to be less distracting, and the back is more for show.

I completely agree with you but I think they made that choice for usability. I would prefer the brighter colour all over tbh.

I also miss the lil Apple logo on the front! Gotten used to it now, but it was iconic :(
