rant: people who don't READ App Descriptions/are you one of them?

Just wanted to rant. I'm not a developer - but I think it's pretty crappy that some programs get these "reviews" from people that don't bother to read the descriptions and/or release notes and give a bad review for what I consider OPERATOR ERROR.


If the program says it only works for the 3gs - and you don't have a 3gs - don't download it. Or if you do - don't download it and give a crappy review because it doesn't work well on your system.

If a programs states "xx feature coming soon" - don't bitch about the fact that the software doesn't have that feature yet.

If you don't bother to read the instructions or a full feature list of the app, don't be an ass and say the app doesn't do this or that when it does - you just haven't bothered to learn how.

Again - this rant is about people who crap on developers when the developer has clearly stated features, instructions, etc and still get idiots who would rather be obnoxious rather than taking 30 seconds to read those notes before clicking on 1 star and spewing vitriol.

I'm not a big fan of the review process the way it is now. It's way too vague. 1 star because it doesn't do that ONE thing you wanted it to. Perhaps there should be categories to constrain what people are rating. Speed, UI, etc.

The funniest review yet is for the Pizza Hut app. It was given one star because pizza is bad for you and Pizza Hut isn't even the best pizza. Seriously?

What prompted me to finally post this (because I see it all over) is reading a full description on iTunes about an app - and then reading a few reviews from people who don't like that a feature wasn't included - which it was - giving a low rating. And others for the same app that complained that it kept crashing on their iphone when the decription had *** **** around a statement which said it was meant for the 3gs and there are known issues when running on a 3g.

I know apps are inexpensive - and many are even free. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't do a little research before you click BUY/Install

Good point.

Still too many people look at stars and say "good" or "bad" without doing any further research. There's quite a bit more that needs to be considered when app shopping.

I read everything, from the description, right down to the reviews.

The other day I was reading the reviews to an app I had, which I can't remember, and there was a user who said it didn't work with the 1st gen touch. I was reading the review like he was crazy because I have a 1st gen touch. So I was wondering what stopped him from installing it on his iPod touch.

Mostly I read the reviews to see what negative stuff they have to say, even if the app does it or not. It's quite hilarious.
