I have the apple watch series 4. Since the new update, I have experienced rapid battery drain about three times where the watch battery goes from like 70% to fully depleted in a couple of minutes. I have rebooted the watch, repaired it with my phone, shut of the noise app but have still had this intermittent issue. Has anyone experienced the same? Any ideas about what to do?

I'm having the same problem with my Series 1, but I can't tell if it's the iOS updates, or pairing with the new phone (11 Pro). Not only does it drain quickly, but I can't get a charge about 70-80% any more. I didn't have this problem 3 weeks ago. I might completely wipe the watch and setup as new and see if there's any improvement.

For me it could be the battery itself (the watch is getting old), but at $79 to replace the battery, I think that money is better spent towards a new watch...

I haven't had any problems charging the watch but the rapid drain a couple of times had been terrible. Since its only last year's model, I am not really ready to upgrade. I hope there is another solution.

might be a rogue app that you having running. Delete all third party apps and see if i improves

Thanks I tried to think about that as well. But I can't see anything that is running and haven't added anything new. I thought possibility that apple's noise app might be the issue and have deleted that but the same thing happened yesterday.

Unpair the watch and re-pair. If that doesn't work the try setting the watch to from new

I tried paring it again but it did not help. I will try setting it up as new as a resort. Would I back it up from a backup file? Or set it up as a brand new watch? Would I lose any of my health data?

@misterc your health data is cloud stored, it isn't dependent on the watch.

You'd set up the watch as new, and not use a backup. I'd recommend taking a screen shot of your apps layout so you know how you had things arranged.

Had it happen to me once. Since I charged it, it's been totally fine after a reboot. 9 hours later, i'm at 79%

I unpaired my watch and repaired it and that seemed to stop the battery drain after updating.

I've been having the same problems ever since I went to OS 6 on my SSSB S4, mind you I never had this issue with watch OS 5. I had Apple support check out my battery specs via a chat and all came back fine. This morning it did it again going from 86% to 10% within 20 minutes of my work out using Apple Music (Radio) streaming via LTE to my AirPods. I'm losing my patience with this issue.

What was strange was that it would not allow me to shut it down completely when it went to 10%. I would go through the motions of shutting it down, but then the Apple logo would pop up seconds later and the watch would restart. I finally unpaired the watch and repaired about an hour later for the first time after updating to OS 6.
