RapidWeaver 3.6 is out: Here

I'm getting ready to build and publish my first website. RapidWeaver, by far, seems like my best option. Don't want to get my hands too dirty and don't want to publish to .mac. (leaning towards bluehost.com or lunarpages.com)

What do you think of the updated RapidWeaver? It seems great to me, but I've never done this before.

Hmm... doesn't show up in RW's own Software Update, yet... :(

The 3.5.1 copy I've got claims it's up to date:

Also, didn't it use to cost #39.95? Now it's $49...
 
Looks good.

I used it ages ago, probably 1-2 years ago.

It looks a lot better since then in terms of aesthetics, and you can edit the HTML code which is great.

Nuke Laloosh its a great application if you don't want to build a site from scratch its the best thing out there IMO.

I just feel a bit limited by the templates.

I just revamped my site and change hosts from my old college site to my own domain. I've been using the software for over a year, and I like it a lot.

I haven't jumped to 3.6 yet, as they are charging existing customers $25 to upgrade, and I'd rather wait and make sure they get any small bugs quashed. (There are a few listed in RealMac's discussion forums).

So far, the software looks great. I'd wait a couple days and scour sites like TUAW or Screen Casts Online to see if they post a coupon code to save a few bucks off RapidWeaver.
 
This is what iWeb really should be like...you can make a great website if you're skilled, and a good one if you're not...

Nope, didn't get it that recently. :( Oh well, as soon as I get my new website up and running with the older version of RapidWeaver, I'll shell out the $25 for the upgrade.
 
I'm torn whether to invest in Rapidweaver or not. It seems like a nice program and superior to iWeb in some ways, but it's not a drop-in better version. For one thing, I don't know of any other program like iWeb that functions more as a page layout program than a WYSIWYG editor. It's almost like running publisher. And I like it for that. On the other hand, iWeb's blogging support is terrible, and I want to start a small family-oriented blog (as in, oriented to my family). Blog support is especially terrible if you, like me, publish to your own server (jorj.net in my case). RSS only half works and then only by hacking around.

I'm frustrated with iWeb, but Rapidweaver is not a dream either. You convenient page layout features of iWeb, and RW still doesn't integrate with Aperture (iPhoto yes, but I don't want to move my photos from Aperture to iPhoto then finally to DW). RW is more polished in other ways though. For example, it easily handles uploading to any desired server. It also appears to have nice blogging features.

So I'm torn. Dreamweaver doesn't seem ideal, and it's $50 now. IWeb is definitely not perfect, but the next version might be much improved. Unfortunately the next version probably won't be released until October/November.

What to do. . . what to do?

The templates are a starting point. The only limits to go easily beyond the templates are your imagination and some patience and with some CSS know how you can aim for the stars!!!!

The latest upgrade looks like a dream ticket especially for blogging with loads of SEO tweaks.

I don't know iWeb, but I use Wordpress and I dont see any pleasure in that approach at all.

It's RapidWeaver.

@MacDonaldsd: The templates are works of art, plus you can always download (nudge, nudge, is make templates) or make your own.
 
RapidWeaver is a great program. Not thrilled with having another paid upgrade, but I'll probably get it eventually. 3.5.1 works fine for me now, though.
