Ratatouille rip issue...

Hi all,

I have been ripping my kids bluray collection to AppleTV recently.

I'm having issues with Ratatouille which I'll detail below. Here is my workflow...

1. Rip to external drive formatted NTFS via PS3 running linux.
2. Attach external drive to Mac.
3. Run Parallels Windows 7 VM and hook up drive to it.
4. Mount the .iso file as a disc to the VM.
5. AnyDVD HD recognises the disc and allows decryption.
6. Open decrypted BDMV folder with BDInfo.
7. Use TSMuxer to mux the video and audio file.
8. Handbrake to transcode to 1280 HD etc.


Now it all works and I get the .m4v file with the English audio.

What I don't get is the English video. The signs, books, and writing in the film is all from the French version. So 'pepper' is 'poivre' etc. The newspapers are all French writing. Gusteau's book is French titled.

I can see in BDInfo that there are two 1920x1080 video streams and the playlist has a "subpath" with (1) type things for two different sequences etc.

Problem is that there is no way to select this alternate video in TSMuxer which I suspect is the correct English video version. All the .m2ts files seem to have the French titles when played individually with VLC.

I don't know how to access or get the English video and have resigned to just using the French video and English audio. The introduction and cast titles are all in English; its just the in-movie titles etc. that are all French.

Anyone know how to get this subpath thing sorted?

I have had issues ripping/encoding other Pixar/Disney DVD titles (don't have BluRay). Apparantly, they do a lot to make it difficult to rip/encode from physical discs...as you have found.

Disney movies make use of zero cell copyright protect afaik. I've had issues so usually I locate the chapter the movie is actually playing on and do a 100% quality rip from that using handbreak. I don't get the video_ts file but such is life. This has worked about 95% of the time.

Play the film from the disk in VLC and it will tell you which Title is playing. That's the one you need to rip, otherwise you get chapters out of order and/or alternative audio tracks.
