Rate my iMac alu icon!

Hey guys, i'm new to photoshop and I thought i'd make a simple iMac icon in photoshop from scratch, I'll attach the file, tell me what you think! I now have a desktop one, feel free to use them. p.s say hello to iMac; hippy edition.. (took me 5 minutes; started by my friend saying I bet you can't make it rainbow.)

That looks like a layer that's not being "gradiented". I would look through all your layers for those blobs and delete the layer, or move it to a lower level so you can't see it.

Make a new layer and apply the gradient to that one?

okay i fixed it, i made a new layer with the area selected and fixed the gradient through there. I'll post the end result

Assuming I'm seeing the new image here, doesn't look too bad but when I opened the attachment the bottom part of the black screen seemed to be slightly (and I mean slightly here - more noticeable on zooming in) at an angle - may be down to compression but it may be worth looking at.

i picked that up earlier too, but i can't seem to find a way to straighten it up, direct selection tool isn't proving easy to fix the problem :|

Okay fixed it. good eye you have there sir.

How can I apply that Icon to my desktop? The Command I, copy, paste doesn't work - I just get a generic .png file icon.

When the picture is in a folder, like your desktop or something, right click on the HD icon, click get info, Then drag the image from the desktop onto the small icon in the top left corner of the getinfo box.

I could do my best , Can't guarantee i'll be doing it any time soon; because i just recently installed a screen on my black MB (go to my created threads if you wanna see it.) And i'm currently re doing an emac

Nice ! i like them i understand how hard it is to actually get an icon to work

now, make it into an .icns using Icon Composer, its pretty easy to do, if you need any help ask me ^^

haha yeah, thanks i'll upload the .icns files soon. I managed to get my hippy imac icon to work perfectly, but the first time i did it it had a white background, but i just put it on with candybar, then by 'get info' I dragged another image to it, but then deleted it and the white background problem was gone
