I've been having issues with a rattling sound with my left AirPod and now I'm having the same problem with the right one. This happens just from shaking my head or walking. I'm not too keen on spending $150 on a product that I have to sit perfectly still to use.

I talked to Apple Support and reset them a couple of times. It seemed to fix the issue for a few moments. They're telling me to take it in for repair to see if it's covered under warranty, but I'm suspicious they'll charge me the $69 fee.

Has anyone else had this issue? If this is a common problem I'm not going to pay Apple to replace them since I can get a new set for $140 anyway.

If your inside the 14 day return period, exchange them. If not, your under the one year warranty. If they determine there is a problem it will be covered free of charge. I know because, my Apple watch crown went bad under warranty and they replaced it with a new one for free. It was a new watch not, a white box replacement. If is outside the factory warranty period and you used AppleCare you would be charged.

Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately I did not have a good experience with Apple Support.

I chatted with them and was told I could do a “DIY replacement” for $69 per AirPod or I could go to the store for a repair. They made it sound like the store could help me.

I went to the store and was told it would be $69 per AirPod for replacement, which is basically the cost to buy a new pair.

Apparently the limited AirPod warranty only covers battery defects unless you get AppleCare and even then you have to pay out of pocket to replace them.

So yeah. I can no longer recommend this product and I will not be buying another pair.
