Well I finally did it. I purchased the Filehub. This is exactly what I needed to move files from my old and slowly dieing Samsung Galaxy Note Pro tablet. I'm moving everything from internal and SD card storage to my WD external hard drive, then I will move selected items and photos to my iPad, iPhone or cloud. I've figured out most of the settings etc on the file hub but I have a question on the power button. I've seen Facebook videos and still photos of the Power Hub in action and most of the time it shows the power button (the ring around outside of Button) lit up in blue. Mine does not do that. It works but I don't know why light does not work!!! Any help please.

I have a FileHub - the center ring only lights up as it is powering on - it is off when the hub is active (the WiFi display should remain on). It's a great device, I've used these since the 1st generation (latest is the 3rd).

Its great. I'm finally able to access my old WD external drive to get to files I put on it when I was using Android devices. Gives me a lot of flexibility for files transfer, especially with my workmates.

While on travel, I've used the Ethernet connection in hotels where only wired was available or where wireless sucked and a better wired connection was available. Also on travel, used the bridging function to provide wireless to more devices than the hotel's wireless allowed. Plus, real convenient for backing up photos and streaming movies from a 4TB hard drive. And besides my 10.5 iPP, it works with my Android phone and tablet and Win 10 laptop. It's an amazing accessory for the price.

Can’t find the answer to this anywhere. Maybe you guys can help...when using this to transfer files...say a movie...can you open it with the stock  app for viewing movies, or do you have to use the file transfer app?

Not quite sure on your question - assuming the movie is on some storage device attached to the hub - SD card or HDD - you can view the movie or transfer it to the iPad with the third party FileHub app or something like FileExplorer.

S o if you hook your iPad to iTunes and upload a movie, to watch it on you ur iPad you go to the tv app....if using this hard drive to upload the movie to the iPad, do you still go to the tv app, or do you have to go through the upload app to watch it?

Generally, in this scenario I browse the hard drive attached to the hub with FileBrowser. I would usually just stream it directly using the FileBrowser video player capability or select the movie and stream it to another app like Infuse - again, functionality provided by FileBrowser. I don't download them to my iPad but FileBrowser supports that through sharing or export, just like any other file. Bottom line, to watch the movie I don't have to upload it to the iPad but I could if I wanted to.
