My buddy's girlfriend needed a new laptop, so I convinced her to get a MacBook. Before she ever turned it on, she mentioned to him that she hoped that she didn't make a mistake... They came over the other night and I gave her a copy of Robin Williams' The Little Mac Book - Tiger Edition. She was getting on a plane for Thailand the next morning. I figured there would be time to read it - 15 hour flight from her connection in Chicago :p

So, I just heard that she sent an e-mail to my bud. It went something like this: "This Computer Kicks Ass!!! The first time I turned it on in the airport I was immediately connected to their wireless network and on the internet! I didn't have to do a thing!"

Heh. I knew she'd like it :D

That's good. Another Switcher.

I love how people try Mac's for the first time and are amazed.

awesome. here at my school there is a huge packet that shows how to connect to the server (w/ Windows). i turned mine on and it told me i was connected.

Awesome! It's these kind of stories that make me know I won't be making a bad decision when I finally pull the trigger. Cheers!

Don't get me wrong... I love OS X...

But seriously, if you love your computer just for auto-connecting to open WiFi connections you're asking far too little.

Windows will auto-detect WiFi connections and connect you to them as well -- though sometimes it'll say they're insecure and ask you if you want to first.

For a basic user (web browsing, music, mail etc.) coming from a Windows machine to OS X makes it the little things that make everything more enjoyable.

The e-mail I referred to above came a few days after the airport wireless endevour. I'm sure she was just throwing out one of the many things she was digging about her new Mac

Sounds like you're trying to steal his girl!
Heh. Well, I did ask if she had a sister ;)

when my macbook arrived, i was dreading setting it up having never done it before - first mac ever, but it was sooooo easy! I love my mac :D
