RAW & JPEG in Photos.

I am taking RAW/JPEG photos with my Sony RX10M4 camera.
When I upload them to Photos on my MBP they appear as a JPEG with a little "j" top right and another file under it.
How can I look at and edit the RAW file?

The "Help" says: In the Photos app

on your Mac, double-click a photo to open it, click Edit in the toolbar, then choose Image > Use RAW as Original.
When I click on Image I do not get the option to "Use RAW as the original" It is grey and can't be opened.

Any suggestions how I access the RAW image please?

RAW usually requires specialized software to open and edit. You can use the software that came with your Sony camera or Photoshop or Lightroom or Capture One (this is what I use). RAW isn't a format, it's raw sensor dump so Canon's CMOS sensor RAW will be different from Sony's CCD sensor RAW. The software converts RAW sensor dump into a standardize format, either JPEG or TIFF.

Edit: I did some searching and it seems Apple supports RAW conversion through the OS instead of a particular program. You can check out Apple's download page to see which Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update you need to install, depending upon OS version. From what others have said about it, seem more of a PITA than using Photoshop/Capture One.

I have found that if I shoot RAW+JPEG and upload to Photos, the JPEG is the master and I cannot access the RAW.
However if I export the image to my Desktop, they split and there is a RAW and JPEG image there.
I can then re import the RAW and edit it.
