I purchased a RavPower hub with SD card reader to try and transfer photos from my DSLR to my iPad Pro for editing. RavPower said IOS does not support RAW import (I asked after I ordered). So I tried it anyway, I used file browser for business and I was able to get the photos to my ipad, but when I drop them into affinity photo when I click on the circle acknowledging it is a raw file the program crashes. Does anyone have any suggestion for importing RAW images?

Contact Affinity Photo's support staff. AFAIK, iOS has perfectly fine RAW support

I've used Affinity with RAW from my Canon 70D. What camera are you using? It may be that Affinity does not support the particular camera. You could try Lightroom.

It’s a Nikon 5100. I've used Affinity since it came out, this is more wireless transfer from SD to my IPad Pro and get them into Affinity. Before I would import them on my MBA and then icloud, then import to Affinity. The wireless would just be faster.

I just tried the following with my RAVPower FileHub and 10.5" iPP and it worked:

Copied RAW files from SD card to a folder in FileBrowser
Selected a photo and shared it with Affinity
RAW photo opened successfully in Affinity
Developed it in Affinity
Exported the finished photo as JPEG back to the SD card in the FileHub

Can you view your RAW photos in FileBrowser after copying them?

If you want to import, just use the camera kit

I have one of those and it rarely works. When it does it usually only loads a few of the photos and the transfer takes so long its painful!
Works for me. I load hundred of photos at a time. Make sure you have the new version that transfers at USB3 speeds.

I have one more question, I was able to import/edit the photos in Affinity on my IPad Pro, in the past I've gone to export/share/save image to my ipad then upload. That crashes Affinity, so I can do export/save to files/file browser and save to the directory I want. How does everyone else export photos to hard drive or cloud service?

Thanks,
Jon

I've done that a couple times already. I double checked and I'm only using 70 some gigs of 256 so I'm not sure what’s going on.

I selected Export and then FileExplorer - within that, I could select a drive on on my PCs that I have set a connection for in FileExplorer I could have selected a cloud-based option, too). I had trouble trying to do the same when using FileBrowser in the Export selection - Affinity still has some rough edges.
