Over the past few days, I’ve seen a couple recommendations for a Mac program called “RAW Power” as a potential replacement for Aperture. The suggestions have mostly been side comments off the main topic of each thread, so I am wondering if anyone could describe their experience with the software. My little understanding is that its development involved the lead(s) from Aperture, so it bears some resemblance and features. My wife and I will eventually have to find an alternative to Aperture so I’m hoping to trial the software in a few days.

This might help, about using Photos.app by the author of Raw Power: https://tidbits.com/2019/06/14/the-...estructive-editing-in-photos-for-mac-and-ios/

There's a demo available, so I'd suggest you just try it and decide for yourself. https://gentlemencoders.com/raw-power-for-macos/

It's not a replacement for Aperture, in that it doesn't do much in regard to organizing images, although it has a basic browser. It is, however, rather like Aperture in it's adjustment interface and tools, not surprising since it's by the guy who did Aperture. And if you intend to use Photos in addition to Raw Power pay particular attention to the article above. And good luck with that. I like Raw Power and use it on occasion. But it's far too basic for my uses these days, and of course it relies on Apple's raw conversion, which I am not always enamored with. But YMMV; odds are if you're still slogging on with a long-ago deprecated program you will have more modest needs that could be fulfilled by Raw Power, at least for the adjusting part. You'll need other solutions for the organizing, metadata part of Aperture, if you use that.
