Hi all, I'm trying to decide what cell phone I should get that will best work with my iMac. I live in Canada, so we're talking about Canadian cell phones and providers here, but I'm sure some of it will still carry over in other parts of the world.
Anyways, I just bought a Samsung SPH a900 (also known as the Blade I believe) from Bell. It's a great looking phone and all, but it doesn't sync with iSync. I'm thinking of taking it back and getting the RAZR V3i with iTunes from Rogers. I figure it must work well with a Mac because it has iTunes on it, right? Anyone have any experience with this phone?
What about Rogers? Are they a decent provider? I know they are GSM, and Bell is CDMA. I'm heard that GSM is suppose to be better, but I've also heard the reverse.
Thanks for any help or advice you can give.

razr

You need a phone with Bluetooth and which can work with Apple iSync. There is a list of iSync ready phones on the iSync page at Apple.

<http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/devices.html>

These are:
Motorola ROKR
Motorola RAZR v3 (GSM)
Motorola RAZR v3i
Motorola RAZR v3c (The Verizon version of this phone does not support calendar synchronization.)
Motorola RAZR v3x

Good luck.

isync works fine, with some phones (aka mine) the services won't work over bluetooth, aka no file transfer no modem use.

This is typically true of all Verizon phones (However I hear that the new V3m will work both ways now with a simple hack in iSync). I have the V710, and was lied to when I purchased it.

To the OP though, good choice with the V3i, atleast it isnt the V3.

Does the Verizon bluetooth have any function with a Mac?
Yes it does.
Since the day I got my verizoon razr v3c I have been creating ringtones, transfering pix and flix and syncing contacts all via bluetooth. This is the best phone I have ever had.

Yeah Canada!

Yep, we've had the V3i RAZR in Canada since about May I think.
By the sounds of it, Verizon in the US is very similar to Bell in Canada. Both CDMA, both crippling the Bluetooth on there cell phones....great stuff.
Anyone have any experience with GSM phones? The guy in the Rogers store told me that the signal travels better indoors, and the frequency GSM uses was designed to travel through concrete. I didn't really beleive him, but when I pulled out my CDMA Bell phone and looked at the signal strength, I had none. He had a bell phone with no signal as well. His co-worker had a Rogers GSM Razr, and she had nearly full signal strength. I thought that was crazy, but obviously true. Any thoughts on this?
