Well I think it's time that I did a new re-brand for myself and as usual I am struggling like hell to come up with a new design.
You know the usual kind of things.... like it one minute, hate it the next.
I'm looking at doing everything from scratch including website, logo etc etc.

Now why is it that when it comes to clients works I have no problem but when it's my own I struggle like hell. I mean I did some flyers several months ago to send out. Guess what... they are still in the box. I don't like them, and to be honest I hated them the minute I picked them up but then I've done that before.

Any suggestions from fellow designers as to how to get round this? I'm actually looking to expand this year and get a web designer to expand my network of clients plus being based in Asia need an employee that can speak and write Mandarin/Hokien to get more local business.

Help.... please.... I'm getting very frustrated!!
What do you guys do?

Being a designer, it is part of your job to not be completely happy with your work or others, that's actually a good thing :). It always leaves room to evolve, grow and learn new things. Frustration and Failure is part if the key to success AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT GIVE UP.

I'm already tired of my logo too :D but I am working on many different styles that I like, I'll completely finish a design even if I don't like it that much because I can find things I do like upon finishing it. Maybe it's the color I used or the effect I gave it, I can save it and use it as reference. Just don't give up, you'll find your way.

Flip through some books, do some reading and looking at pics on the web about periods of art and design history, go for a walk, do some photography, look through some old work, listen to some music loud on headphones, occasionally drop into a gallery or museum, pick up some coloured pencils and do some doodles, maybe smoke a joint to do some freer thinking.

Once in a while, you have to let go for creativity to come.

maybe smoke a joint to do some freer thinking

that would be nice but where I live they'd cane my arse, back and anywhere else they can and then throw me out of the country! lol

Think I'll just play around with some ideas and see what happens.

I was just wondering if I'm the only one who's never satisfied with their own work. I get very frustrated and you'd think that after 10 years or so I would know better.
