As y'all might know (or not), I visit some interesting places; one of which is the local 'Transfer Station' (née "The Dump").
A few weeks ago, I was off-loading some post-daily refuse from a work project, and I looked-down . . .
. . . an (and one other) pad-like kiosks were at the border of the pile.
The reflections in the screen cut-outs peaked my interest; so, I took them home.
If I didn't already have the iFixIt multi-tool thingamamimi kit, the torx TR8 security screws (of which there were approx. 15) would have been insurmountable.
1/15 were un-un-drivable . . . what's a little cracking, when cracking is discernibly (and inevitably) involved?
After a lot of emails, phone calls, chat-boxes, and efforting by parties well-above my ken and pay-grade (they were MDM locked, but otherwise unrestricted), the two iPads previously housed internally are now free to flower.
Just glad I saved them, as they were destined to be stomped into a hole in the ground; never to be used, again.
