iPod re-encoding?

I have most of my CD-imported music encoded at 224 kbps AAC... my iPod is almost full and I want to re-import my music at 160 or 192 kbps AAC. My question is, will selecting the Convert Selection to AAC under Advanced menu and simply lowering the bitrate directly from 224-->192/160 AAC result in worse quality than ripping directly from the CD to 192/160 AAC? Thanks

It will be less, but honestly I doubt you would notice a difference. And surely the time it would save you would be worth it.
