Re install osx?

Ok so i have an ibook g4 1.2 as seen below. Im having various problems with safari, ive tried resetting, ive repaired permissions ect. Now im thinking my only hope is to re install osx. Im using panther, latest version. All software is up to date. How do i re install? Are there any other options? :confused:

It keeps unexpectedly quitting. Where do i find that file? What is it?
 
It's a preference file and it's in your Preferences folder. If you quit Safari and remove this file, it'll revert all your settings back to their defaults. Often a corrupt PLIST will result in erratic behaviour so removing is effectively the same as reinstalling, in many cases. :)

Can you give me a step by step to finding it and deleting it?
 
Okay. :)

On your Home folder, go to a folder named Library. Open it up and then scroll down to a folder named Preferences. In here you should find a file named com.apple.Safari.plist which is the Safari preference file. Make sure Safari is closed. Now, drag it to the Desktop and reopen Safari. It should be back to its default settings. :)

Why do i drag it to the desktop and not the trash?
 
Well, what's important is that it's not in the Preferences folder next time Safari starts up. You can delete it if you like but keeping it on the Desktop means that if it didn't fix your problem, you can put it back in the Preferences folder and retain all your old settings. :)
