Hi

Am i right in saying using Apples standard installation package to upgrade or "reinstall" OS Catalina 10.15 will retain all user data and any user - installed apps? As opposed to a bootable USB drive method wiping the drive completely clean.

I simply want to perform a fresh reinstallation of Catalina 10.15 without loosing any purchased apps, is this possible using the above method?

Thanks.

Would i need to manually uninstall Catalina? Or would selecting upgrade to OS Catalina from Apple updates simply overwrite the previous installation?

It is possible. If you can go to bootable usb method then it would be ideal. Purchased apps from Mac App Store can be redownloaded, only ones that you bought from non-App Store need to be copied / backup.
