when closing then reopening my mbp in XP it does not 'awaken' instead it has a black screen. I've tried closing and re-opening several times, and still no go. i have to press the power button to shutdown and restart each time.

can anybody tell me what I can do?

you can start by decrease your font size, it is absolutely annoying.

what did you do before you open the lid... was it set to sleep when you close the lid?

also... if it were set to that... was the computer FULLY asleep?

did you try to press and release the power button to see if it wakes it up?

again, decrease your font size

I've had this happen to me a few times. I discovered it did it to me if I closed the lid, then unplugged it (or vice versa). Now when I close the lid and it is plugged in, I leave it plugged in. Same if it is unplugged. This may not be your situation, but XP seems to be unstable in sleep mode on a MBP.
