My HD crashed and I had to reformat it without getting the chance to deactivate my copy of CS4. Do I have to call Adobe for them to manually deactivate the serial number so I can use it again? Has anyone one got any tips for this? I remember dealing with Adobe before and it was a nightmare (trying to install a copy of CS4 after a trail was already on the mac –*spent hours on the phone to support redoing the the same actions from there step by step help guide ).

I installed this ok, I wonder if it's because the serial number is linked to my IP address?

If it's the same computer it will normally generate the same machine ID which will give you the same activation code.

That said, the couple times I've needed to call Adobe has been quite good; no more than 10 minutes a time.
