Should my G4 flat screen 700 mhz be able to read DVD R as someone has burnt some stuff on one for me but they say its blank, but they read fine on my other mac 2 ghz PowerPC G5?
Thanks
Jo

Depends what drive shipped with the machine. If you're running OSX, go to Apple System Profiler and see what it says...

Apple Menu>About this Mac>More Info...>Hardware>Disc Burning

...and under 'Reads DVDs'. What does it say?

sorry not at home at the mo but ill check that tonight im sure it was a combo drive as i think i have used dvdr before? was just checking thats all, maybe the disc has not been burnt right?

As i remember because i never actually brought this i brought it from my boyfriend he says it was the middle priced one, it does not burn dvd though?!

The middle-priced one shipped with a Combo Drive, so you should be able to read DVDs just fine. The highest-priced one shipped with SuperDrive, to burn DVDs. When you're at the computer you can find out which one you have via system properties as described above.

Well it does read dvd r i made a copy of it at work and those ones worked fine not sure why the other ones would not read though, never mind, now have to figure out why the programs have installed properly but do not open they just bounce and do nothing, i have 10.4.7 update to put on tonight hope that makes them work?!
Thanks Again
Jo
