Is anyone else having a problem with mail deletion from their .mac .me accounts?

For a few days now after reading mail pushed to my iPhone I am getting messages that I have read and deleted reappearing a few minutes later as unread new mail.

I guess this is a "push" sync problem, but is it a general one or just me?

P.S I am currently using my 1st Gen iPhone with 2.0 on it. Will wait until Apple and O2 get their acts together so I can pick up a sweet 16Gb version.

I'm having problems where I delete email from my iPhone/Mac and it still remains in my MobileMe inbox. Kind of irritating because I don't always remember what I've replied to. It was working fine a couple days ago. Not sure what is going on really.

Forgot to mention that, yeah mine is the same too, if I look at the MobileMe web portal the email has not been deleted from there but it is at least marked as read, definitely still ongoing problems then for this service!

:(

Same here - but as usual - not always. I think it is worst when I don't read (or let all of the email load) and then delete it. It's almost as if the email has to fully download or it will send it again until it has.

Is there a feature to limit how much of an email is downloaded like on a blackberry?

I'm having issues with the syncing between devices for sure. I read a bunch of stuff on the phone last night, and this morning it all showed up as unread. The read/sent/etc is not syncing properly between phone and desktop. Push to desktop was working fine yesterday, but this morning it's not... I'll give it a bit more time--it's definitely getting better.

Me Too, mail is COPIED to Trash!

I'm having problems where I delete email from my iPhone/Mac and it still remains in my MobileMe inbox. .... Not sure what is going on really.

Most of my MM functionality is finally working as of some time yesterday, but I have also had this problem all along, and still do. It is not my settings either, I am certain, I checked a dozen times! And I did try the delete mail account & start over trick too.

If I delete mail from my inbox in my iPhone 3G, it stays in my inbox on the MM seen in a browser. Of note, on MM seen in a browser, the mail deleted on the iPhone is COPIED to the trash folder in MM, but, the original remains in the inbox. Go figure...

It's almost like a command on their server simply issues a copy command, rather than a move command!

I am having the exact same problem as listed here and by others. I have emailed MM support about it two days ago and yet to hear a response. All other features seem to be working better (except contact syncing) so I am hopeful this one will be taken care of shortly. At least with the contacts problem it is listed as a known issue on the MM support page. Nothing is listed with the issue discussed in this thread.

I'm down to only the exact problems as you mention DD.

Have same issue here as well.

Yesterday, I spoke to a MobileMe rep and was assured they were aware of the problem and that they were working to fix it.

I've noticed that if I re-delete one of the previously deleted emails, the inbox refreshes and they are all gone... only to come back at some point in the future. So, they are not really there, but it's more like a ghost of the deleted email.

Oh well. I'm just happy they are working on these issues. I know they wanted to release MobileMe for marketing purposes, but couldn't they have releases the "formerly known as Push" technology without the me.com part? Really, the iPhone > Mac process works decently, and the Mac > iPhone works okay (~15 minutes), but the me.com web interface could have used some work.

I'm with you... I'm happy to see a little improvement each day. Really, I'm not even all that upset about it. This is a new implementation and I think we would have been foolish not to expect a few hiccups.

I had these issues under .Mac as well, before the MobileMe launch.

If I deleted something on my iPhone, it would often pop up again as an unread message. Also, if I deleted an e-mail in my Outlook (where at work I have my mac mail set up), it would still show up in the Web mail app. If I re-deleted one of them in the Web app, they would all delete.

I assumed this is more of an IMAP issues and not so much MobileMe since it existed previously ... at least for me.

I have used .mac email for about a year now during which I did not own an iPhone (had a BlackBerry). During that time all seemed to work well and everything deleted properly. Maybe it is an iPhone thing rather than an IMAP thing... or the way the device sends the request?

Not sure just food for thought.

The same problem for me - I thought at first I was getting two copies of each email to my phone, but realised it was that it reappears after deleting.

I have also noticed that emails deleted are not deleted from the mobileme website.

Yes, mine have never deleted from the mm website - only when I do it manually. I actually don't care too much about this as the website is only a gateway for me.

But what I do care about is the double emails. It now seems to be if the email does not fully download or I do not open it then it is sent again. Which is a pain as if I am at my desk I read the emails on the macbook so I just want to delete them on the iphone.

Any suggestions as to what to do?

I'm experiencing both of these problems as well. Glad I'm not the only one.

"Automatic Sync" from the Mac stopped working tonight as well. If I manually force it, an error message pops up every time (tried maybe 10 times or so over the past hour and a half). Anyone else with this problem?

I was having these problems as well since last week. Then this morning, magically things started finally working as they should. When I delete something on the iPhone or in Mail.app, it removes it from the web app as well.

That's what bugs me about everything that's been going on. .Mac users have extra reason to be pissed because we know how fragile .Mac was...and Apple would rarely do anything to resolve it. To expect some sort of complete change in the service...I don't know what I was thinking (or hoping).

I can't say I'm holding my breath for things to get better. They've already backtracked on their goal for the service (push everything), and have openly stated it doesn't work how they wanted. Basically, Apple sucks at doing anything over the internet (and the history proves it).

Well, Apple support finally responded to my email. And as sad as it is here is there reply. Thought those who posted in this thread would want to know.

Dear James,

Thank you for contacting MobileMe Support, I apologize for our delayed response time. Due to the popularity of our new MobileMe features, we are receiving a larger number of requests than expected. Thank you for your patience.

I understand that your iPhone sends your deleted messages to the trash and keeps a copy on the inbox. For an iPhone its normal since it works differently from the Mail application and webmail.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to assist you. You may receive an AppleCare survey email; any feedback you provide would be greatly appreciated.

Since 2.0 was released, I have had things like this occur but it has never been a big deal

A new email will come up and I will read it or delete it and it will come back up. I will delete it a 2nd time and it will be gone for good.
