I picked up an iPad mini and I have “Read” below Text Messages. Not just iMessages. I do not have this on my iPhone or iPad Pro.

Is this something new or just an error somewhere? If it is new how do I enable this on my other devices?

I have seen this very randomly on SMSs for years on various iterations of iOS and iPadOS. I assumed it's just yet another bug to add to the ever-increasing list.

Gotcha. I was hoping some update somewhere enabled this. Oh well

But I did notice Text messages are not synced to the iPad mini like they are on my other devices either so something’s not working right

Thanks. That was off, but shouldnt iCloud sync keep them all the same? I’m still missing parts of some recent conversations.

Edit: just noticed I put this under iOS 17 and I should have put it under iOS 16

For some reason, Apple do not treat SMS the same. So if you delete an SMS off your watch it will not delete off the phone or iPad and vice versa. Absolutely crazy decision by Apple. But let's be honest, they aren't the brightest.
