So as you can see from my sig, I have a new Macbook Pro on order. It comes with the 120GB hard drive which is way to small for me, so I want to put that new 250GB WD 5400rpm drive in there.
Now I know that opening the MBP and swaping out the hard drive technically voids the AppleCare but afaik there's no way they can tell it's been opened if you put the old drive back in there before sending it in for service. I'm comfortable with taking apart computers and ****, but I don't want to **** up my brand new $2000 computer or **** up the warranty.
I also know that some apple authorized service centers can do this for you. CompUSA is the closest (I think only) one near me, but they probably charge like $100 and I don't really trust some random idiot at CompUSA with my brand new laptop.
Does the AppleStore offer any services for this?
Has anyone had Apple do this, had CompUSA do it, or done it themselves?
