Hello everyone! I'm normally an NVIDIA fan for GPUs, but I'm trying to broaden my horizons with AMD since it seems Apple and NVIDIA are in a bad relationship state. When reading NVIDIA card numbers, you can generally tell how far up the food chain you are by the number.
For example:
GTX 1080 ti -> GTX flavor text, 10 series, 80 class, ti means slightly improved.
RTX 2070 -> RTX flavor text, 20 series, 70 class
What is the AMD equivalent of this? With Vega / Polaris cards it is confusing on if a Vega card is meant specifically for rendering instead of gaming, and so on. Is Vega just a better architecture and the latest generation, and Polaris is old tech?
Previously I had just been translating approximate performances by comparing to the NVIDIA lineup on third party sites that record such things. I probably will still do that to some extent, but would like to know how to read these labels at a glance.
