Reading iPad in sunlight. Landscape readable, portrait is not?

Anyone notice if you try to read your iPad in portrait, the thing is almost impossible to read, but as soon as you turn it to landscape, it's comes through perfectly?

I had just resigned myself to not using it at all outside, but it looks like that could change a little.

It does this to me with sunglasses.
It's normal.

If your head is shaped like a vertical rectangle, then you read in portrait mode. If it's a horizontal rectangle, then you're stuck in landscape.
