Reading PDF's in Safari

So I don't know what I did but I completely uninstalled Adobe Reader.

So whenver I went to see a PDF on Safari it didn't work and it was frustrating.

So I went to Adobe Reader and downloaded it (for free of course) and now I see the Adobe Reader in my Apps. When I go to open PDF's in Safari it now works.

But I don't remember seeing the Adobe Reader App before so now I'm starting to wonder if it was already somehow included as a plugin with Safari and I messed it up.

Now I have the Adobe Reader App installed and it works in Safari...but did I need the whole App to look at PDF's in Safari?

PDF's open natively in Safari, Acrobat is not needed.

Really? It's not Acrobat it's Adobe.

And they weren't opening until I just installed Adobe Reader.

Like I said I accidentaly erased Adobe stuff earlier so could I have erased something like a plugin?

The confusion here is what is opening the PDF files. Safari can display them or Adobe Acrobat can. Which is showing them in Safari?
There is a plugin used if Adobe Acrobat is showing the PDF file. If you see a Menu bar while the PDF is displayed then Adobe is showing the PDF, if not then Safari is displaying the PDF file.

Looks like Adobe is displaying the PDF. Is that not what you wanted ? I'm not at my computer so I can't post a screen shot yet. You should see a PDF file and when you mouse over the bottom see options to print or save and increase or decrease side. You won't see a page number option or the adobe acrobat logo.

Yeah for some reason that wasn't working after I deleted The Adobe Reader a couple weeks ago. I remember that too. Is there anything I can do to get it back on Safari? Is there a restore Safari or something?

Check the Preferences for Adobe Reader, see if you can uncheck a setting for displaying PDF's in browsers, maybe.
If you uninstall it should default back to displaying them in Safari.
Check /Library/Internet Plug-Ins and make sure anything labeled Adobe is removed, of course leave Flash in if it is on your system.

Are there settings in Adobe Reader that control viewing in browsers? Such as open in the application itself or open in the browser directly? Check those settings.
If all else fails, maybe install again like it says and then delete.
Was there a Adobe Reader PDF plug in in that folder? If so did you remove and restart Safari?
