Reading text when phone is in landscape mode (horizontal)

So we still can’t read a text message notification when our phone is in landscape mode (horizontal) because the keyboard takes up the entire screen and message.

What is the point then?

I suppose the size of the device possibly makes a difference. On my X it is useless, not sure about the Pro Max

I’m on the pro max. Utterly useless feature. Been like this for years. Ridiculous.
