Ready to buy the right Intel Mac

Hi,
Which new Intel Mac is the best for using a front projector massive size display with 1366 x 768 resolution for running HD dvds (or anamorphic dvds) from the dvd drive in the mac?
Also, which Intel Mac is best for a large flat panel lcd tv (size 55 inches, let's say)?

Would I be smarter to just buy an HD DVD player as a separate component?
I'm hoping to not have to.

Theoretically, I'm looking for a desktop computer but I think I heard that the mini and the imac don't support large displays as well as the ImacPro does. Is this correct?

Also, does anyone know the difference between DVI-D and mini DVI?(Imac has mini DVI and the other two have DVI-D, or if it matters?)

There is no Mac that can currently play HD-DVDs.

Yes, but a mini will easily run a 1366 x 768 display. I have mine running a 1680x1050 display right now.

The size of the socket. You can get an adapter that converts mini-DVI into regular DVI for $20.

But which one (mini,imac, or macbook pro) will look great on a projected image of 16 ft by 9 ft or a large lcd tv (55 inches or bigger), especially from the dvd drive playing an anamorphic (high quality) dvd?

Has anyone seen a dvd played from the drive of the new macs on a large display, or any display for that matter??

Any Intel from the Mini Core Duo on up will handle 1080p video. Do you have video that is higher resolution that that? If not, the better Mini, the iMac, the MB and the MBP should all handle it capably.

netdog, I see that you have a new imac with the built in 20 inch monitor.

That is the computer that I think I want to get most, because it has a large hard drive, as well as it being a "desktop" computer with a larger display than the MBP displays.

Can the new imac do everything that the MBP can do, and are there any issues with using a large display in conjunction with the 20 inch display?
Can you have separate images on each display at the same time? Can you do that with the MBP as well?

I have heard that you can't hook up your satellite receiver to the imac and display it through the monitor (thus replacing your tv). Is this true?

If I wanted to buy the best desktop computer out there, or just the best computer out there right now, would it be the imac intel core duo, or the Macbook Pro intel core duo?

I think something to bare in mind is that if you are streaming HD content off of your Mac's hard drive, then I would get a Mac with A) a decent sized hard drive & B) a hard drive of a good speed, and C) a mac with a decent amount of memory.

I downloaded a 9 gig HD demo (1080i) the other day and that ran pretty smoothly 80% of the time when playing on my AMD 4400+ X2 64BIT & 2GIG ram PC. Didn't try it on my iMac G5 yet.
