Hi everyone,

I am absolutely fuming with a capital F and a load of other words in between. I really need some help before I chuck my iPhone straight out of the window or use it as a doorstop.

I have a severe disability consequently making me electric wheelchair bound and unable to walk. For many years my iPhone was just a toy for other people as I could not use it until they launched the accessibility feature last year. I have been reinvigorated by using my iPhone and iPad with a mouse.

However last night I have just updated my iPhone to 13.4.1 and everything has gone to pot with the mouse and cursor settings which have clearly changed.

The cursor is sluggish even with the maximum track speed turned up. It’s like the sensitivity has been turned down.

The cuser dot like a target has gone

More frustratingly I cannot use web applications such as Safari if I want to drag the screen down usually I click, hold and move the mouse up. Now it’s just highlights the text on the webpage.

Can anyone help I’m scared to update my iPad as this is the only thing that is working at the moment.

I cannot help with why your phone is doing what it's doing, but I would say do not update your iPad under any circumstances until someone else can offer a reason or solution for your issues.

I hope this doesn’t sound condescending because I, myself, also have a disability. (As much as I hate that word. It’s neurological with one physical characteristic.) Have you ever tried to do a hard reset or a factory reset?

If everything else you’ve tried failed, do you have access to another phone or some way to get on the internet and go to Apple.com?

Good luck!

Yes basically I have done a screen sharing with Apple and they have said they do not understand. So maybe they have changed it in an up-to-date the mouse is slow even on the maximum setting. But what I can’t understand is that as soon as I going to Safari I cannot drag with the cursor

Behaviour of certain elements can change with different OS versions. Which version of iOS were you on?

You could potentially ask the Apple support team to compare the behaviour between whichever version you were on before and whichever you are on now? Just a thought. Good luck.

My suggestion is to do all the resetting and reboots possible. If there is no change, I highly recommend trying a different mouse, preferably one from a different manufacturer. Also, make sure the new mouse is a simple one with fewer buttons/functions.

Hello everyone this is my iPad settings and this works brilliantly with a mouse and cursor please note I have not updated my iPad to new version

Only suggestion is leave the iPad as is for now, wait for iOS 13.5 to be released and update the iPhone only at that time. If everything works to your satisfaction, update the iPad if not leave the iPad on whatever version it's on

Try changing the tracking speed to the minimum, see how it works, then turn it back up to maximum and see if there is a difference? That would tell you if it is responding to the settings or if there is some glitch slowing it down.
