Hi,

I am a complete newbie and novice on mac's, but a iTunes user, iPad and iPhone owner.

I have been windows based for years, but now feel like swapping forces.

I have 711 films full DVD rips from my collection of DVD's on two readynas devices and the films are in VOB format. I have just brought a MAC Mini.

How is the best way to stream these films from the readynas to a HDTV using my MAC mini...

Thanks

So have you streamed them to a TV before? If so how did you do it? You can play the VOB files with VLC and if you connect the Mini to the TV you can play the movies full screen in VLC on the TV. The issue is bandwidth I don't know what the data requirements of VOB files are so I have no idea how well it will work. The other issue is what format are the NAS drives NTFS, FAT32 etc?

You can also look at programs like XBMC and Boxee.

Cheers

The format of the drives is irrelevant as a NAS is accessed across a network so the computers accessing it don't care what format they are.

As for the OP if you're using a mac mini then give Plex a try, it should stream VOB's from a NAS without any problems.

You are correct on the NAS issue this is what I get for posting at 3am.

Cheers
