I was obviously naive to try and have a reasonable discussion when this sub forum is still frothing at the mouth and people feel the need to behave like children, so I'll gracefully bow out.

This thread was never about having a reasonable discussion.

It was started by malcontent without a Mac Mini, but with an axe to grind……… out to denigrate Apple, the Mini, and its users….. all based on a single parameter that is relevant to the real world of only a few.

Whinging is welcomed. Neutral or positive points of view are not, and ad hominem may be resorted to.

Another one over your head.

Just out of morbid curiosity, what is it about apple that you love so much to defend a product that performs half as good as the 2 year old version? What other multinational corporations do you defend on the internet?

It was started by someone who has a legitimate concern regarding the new Mac Mini's. Because you don't share that concern doesn't make it any less of a concern.

What makes you say this? Because you disagree with their opinion?

No, because he is a troll!

"Don't worry - you have a two year old quad-core which just got a perceived speed bump by virtue of Apple releasing dual core 2014 minis.

Any lack of performance is in your head and those bad thoughts should be suppressed immediately... and certainly not shared publicly!"

Yep, that comment was foolish and uninformed trolling. He's obviously never run a program that benefited from a quad core CPU. I upgraded my previous Win desktop from a dual core to a quad core and the difference with several photo and video programs was night and day.

Performance is relevant to the real world of only a few? If that were true the only mac mini available would be the 1.4 GHz. You must think apple customers are total fools.

Again I ask, why can you not accept that there a people (apparently many) that have use for quad-core. What is with your constant defense of apple? Unless you are employed by them, you do realize they don't care about you? They exist to make money for their shareholders and nothing more.

I think some of it is just a reaction to the apparent belief by the handbrakers that everyone needs 4 cores.

Really? Can you point out some references to this effect? From what I've read it's people who need four cores who are complaining a quad core Mini is no longer available to them. I haven't seen them attempt to apply their criteria to anyone other than themselves and those who would benefit from four cores. But perhaps I missed it so please feel free to point it out and I'll reconsider.

There are no more sticks. The memory is soldered the motherboard. This makes it even less expensive for Apple as there is no need for additional parts (i.e. circuit board, etching, etc).

Yes, but this soldered memory has 4, 8 or 16 GB chips on them, on one PCB, right?
