Really disappointed by Stock keyboard

I've been having typing issues with the iPhone keyboard for a while now. Apart from lag, it often forgets where I need to correct the text, suggests completely wrong autocorrections, and sticks accidentally typed words together, requiring me to go back to separate them. What's going on? I'd prefer to avoid SwiftKey or Gboard.

Have you tried dictation? I find that tapping the microphone icon, in the lower right corner, and speaking produces much better results than using the software a keyboard.

That’s for sure! But often I can’t speak loud so I have to use the keys.

I echo this. Yet another Apple abortion. Supposedly improved again this year but it’s worse than last year. From incorrect punctuation to unwanted auto-capitalisation to joining words together… You name it… It’s just bloody awful. Apple software really is utter ***** these days.

Yeah, and I ca’t really find a permanent solution. I'm trying SwiftKey, it's good but the idea to use a third party app to improve something so basic like the native keyboard makes me nuts!!!

My pet peeve with the stock keyboard, over multiple iOS versions now, usually happens when typing a word ending in "ing". The keyboard will often insert an extra " g" at the end, so for example "walking" becomes "walking g". Maybe it's something unique to my setup but it drives me nuts.

I’m trying SwiftKeyboard and I have to admit it's definitely better than the stock one. Far from being perfect it represents a good upgrade. I wish it'd have some more stylish layout but that's not crucial.

I come back to the stock keyword, hoping that the 17.3 release would fix the problem. Lags are still present.
