Really long load times in Team Fortress2?

hey guys, i've got plenty of free RAM and this thing is just so damn slow when loading new servers. anyone know why? i just installed TF2 for the first time today.

thanks all

edit: i've got free RAM, but it seems like TF2 is chewing up my RAM. i might need to get another stick even though i've got everything closed.
