I tried to unlock my iphone with quickpwn, but I think it only jailbroke it.It doesnt recognized my tmobile sim. But when I put the old att sim in (it doesnt work - disconnected service) I can see cydia and installer added to screen. I have tried to use pwnage but it has been unsuccessful because it never asks me about bootloaders even though I have downloaded them about 30 times!! I even got the zipeg program for rar files and that didnt help with them either. I am looking for someone to help me figure out how to make this finally work. And will I need to start in DFU mode with tmobile sim in it.

So what I need to do is unlock my now jailbroken 8gb original iphone with 2.1 firmware, using my mac OS10.4.11, itunes 8 so that I can use my tmobile sim. I greatly appreciate any help you can give. It's starting to make me feel like giving up and just find someone I can pay to do it for me!

quick pwn should be able to do it. do an itunes restore and then delete the bootloaders. run quickpwn and make unlock is selected. then when it asks you you find the bootloaders re download them and manually find them. rerun the program, hopefully it will work. Good Luck:)

Quickpwn for mac can only go up to firmware 2.0.2. Check out the website.http://sleepers.net/news/2008/08/29/quickpwn-osx-guide/

I'm having the same issue here right now. The quickpwn 1.1 for mac does not allow any customization besides the bootlogos and none of the other Mac pwn apps work when it comes time to syncing the ipsw with the phone. I thought the TMobile unlocks were easy...

I used the pwnage tool to break my 2G-have tried it on Rogers and T-Mobile and all works well.

I recommend it-it is not much harder to use than quickpwn-but does wipe everything on the phone-Seems like Quickpwn didn't. And-it takes probably 4 times as long (time wise) to do, for whatever reason.

Thanks for the reply. I originally tried the Pwnage Tool, however I experienced numerous errors in iTunes upon restore with the custom firmware. I'm attempting to go from locked ATT 2.1 to unlocked T-Mobile 2.1. I'm open to all hints :)

I didn't do anything special with my 2G-just make sure you have both versions of the baseband downloaded and in the same directory as the ipsw file. Note that pwnage tool makes the custom ipsw first and then unlocks the phone-so it adds a 2nd process and takes maybe another 10 minutes if I remember. Only gotta do it once, so I can only speak for the one time I have done it. :)
