Alright, so I've had my 3G jailbroken for a month or so, and everything is all fine. I live in Australia and I'm using the Optus carrier,

So, today, I went into Settings and and Carrier, I saw it was on Automatic, and for some reason I thought I would click on Optus 3G.

I notice I can't text or make phone calls now. After awhile a popup comes up telling me my cellular data has been lost and to select another data, uh oh... so I just chose Optus. It started working again, but then the popup came up again.

The signal bar and name is still there, but I can't make calls, every so often I might be able to make a call, but not always. And I can also sometimes send and recieve texts, but no all the time.

The Carrier options in Settings are;
Automatic
Optus 3G
Optus
Telstra 3G
Telstra
vodaphone australia

So, even though I've done so much to my Jailbroken iPhone, I decide to restore. Now first, I restore to a custom 2.0.1 firmware. Same problem, and the other carriers are still in settings. And yes, I made sure I didn't unlock my phone for use with another carrier.

So, I try using iTunes to restore my phone. After it's done, it still has the problem! And the other carriers are still there!

I REALLY NEED HELP!

Not super versed in the jailbreak process but I think you need to put the iPhone in DFU mode (Device Firmware Upgrade) and THEN restore the phone in iTunes.

Turn your iPhone's power off. Hold down the home button while you connect it to your computer's USB port with iTunes open. Hopefully that fixes your problem!

I've already tried that, and it didn't work unfortunately....

I really, really want to get this problem solved!

ummm reset network settings :/ and update to 2.02 could help jailbreaking cant damage your baseband since there are no unlocking programs or anything to touch the damn thing yet so just restore to 2.02 and did you try just choosing automatic for carriers

did you install anything abnormal or ssh just restore it and go to the apple store really because if you put it into automatic it switches the carriers for you automatically and if you put it on 3g network only obviously it will die on you because the 3g signal isnt everywhere. just restore and go to the apple store :/

I restore in DFU mode, and the other carriers won't go away and I even still have custom text message bubbles from when I jailbroke it. HELP!

are you restoring from a backup, because if yes this is your problem :/ you have to start off as a new phone and sync and if you want your txt messages then get backup your iphone and use the program itext to read off your text messages and if you have photos sync with iphoto

I'm not given the option of restoring from a back up.

And none of my text messages transfer over once I've restored...

there has to be an option then i just dont know whats wrong with your iphone :S so you restore and still have jailbreak effects and your carrier is messed up?

Lots of things. I SSH'd into it as well.

you must have done some serious sshing to mess things up like this because restoring should erase all these things :/ and the carriers thing just leave it on automatic and since you live in Australia the phone can be unlocked through your service provider(lucky) but the jailbreak effects i have no clue restore maybe normally rather then through dfu

I've restored normally and DFU.

What can my carrier do?

i know your carrier can have your phone unlocked in a legit way since you live in Australia and thats why maybe its showing other carriers :/ personally im clueless on this one ive never accounted something like this :/ show a pic, click the home and sleep/wake button on your phone to take the screen shot and post it maybe i will get a better image of it and help you

My phone's locked though.

What do you want a screenshot of?

I will in a sec.

When I restore, should all the SSHing stuff be gone?

ok you have your phone right? ok show me where the logos or jailbreak effects are still happening by taking a screenshot of it with your phone by pressing the home and sleep/wake button at the same time, you screen will flash and the screenshot will go to your camera roll, sync your phone with your mac with iphoto take that photo and post is so i can see it

Yeah, I get that bit, but when I asked

"When I restore, should all the SSHing stuff be gone?"

Oh sorry, I read it as one sentence.

It would appear I can still send and recieve texts, but not calls.
