Hey!
I am trying to send a 500mb file to my friends, and seems to take ages to transfer... Is there a way of comprssing and zipping up the file to make it smaller?

Depends what type of file it is - some files cannot be compressed further. Please provide additional information.

Also, in the future, avoid using completely useless subject titles like "Really Quick Question!" - it is annoying and provides members with absolutely no information on what you are actually asking. Most members just ignore threads like this one. Luckily, I am one of the nice guys. :p

If its already a heavily compressed file (eg. compressed video like an xvid encoded file or something) then you wont be able to get it any smaller. If is an installation file then its probably already compressed.

If this is the case then
1) Put it on CD and give it to him!
2) Use a utility to cut it into little chunks and send them one by one
3) Get a faster internet connection!

lol
