My Mac (late 2013) is on 10.13.4 and safari is taking longer and longer to start. Firefox and chrome start instantly.

Today Safari is taking up to 30 seconds to get going.

Anyone any idea why ?

Do you have any extensions loaded? Try turning them all off. If that solves it then start turning them on one by one until you find the culprit.

Also, I've heard of a long browsing history can cause this - maybe try clearing your history?

Also, you could try emptying your caches - might help.
