Really weird network and ISP issues, Long, but please help

Maybe I've been watching to much MrRobot...

I have been having bizarre networking issues.

First, recently using the airport app I turned off the guest network at my house. Nothing used it had it set up primarily for devices that arnt N.

Anyhow like expected the Airport Express restarted and then my internet dumped.... Weird. I called my ISP to see if there was a outage, no outage. Ok, restart everything in the proper order. Still nothing.

Called ISP the sent a refresh signal to my modem then that restored connection. I hooked the AE up and it wouldn't connect to the Internet. Like it wouldn't pull the proper DNS info.

Called ISP again. They did something and it fixed the issue. Something about a handshake between modem and router and a hung up firmware update? I didn't ask to much it was 1am and I was sleepy.

Everything is back up and running. Roughly 24hours later browsing safari on my iPhone I get a Google "suspicious traffic" warning page and a CAPCHA request. I switched from wifi to LTE and got the same blocking page.

The only thing different I did around the same time was install a app "FileBrowser" on my iPhone to mess around with a USB stick plugged into my AE. It required network login info. I was hesitant... But I had faith in the App Store screening.

I feel like I am being watched? Could it have been malware? Can the Airport be "compromised"?

App is probably using a port in Safari that Safari is flagging. This is my guess.

If you feel uneasy, delete the app and find another solution.

As for the airport extreme being compromised, I read that as taken over/malware installed on it. I doubt it. It runs it's own software/firmware. For it to get owned would require some sophistication. I have doubts.

I use filebrowser and never had trouble with it... I use it with VPN and non-vpn.. perhaps you went to a page that was malware in the browser.... just junk... spammed...

my guess is that the AE lost it's network and it needed to be ip address needed to be renewed... is it an older (senior) AE? Also, I have seen where modems ip addressed needed to be renewed from isp, that local couldn't release the old address after changing settings internally... So, I think it's a fluke that you went to a bad page and that the ip addressed needed to be released... my 2 cents

The Google warning page is weird. I was browsing a legit site, a popular VW message board. I totally ignored it and didn't enter the CAPCA info. I haven't gotten it since.

Certain other things than content can trigger malware warnings. One is to pass something resembling a username in a URL (http://www.example.com/login.pl?username=bill for instance) and certain message boards use redirects after logging in that triggers that warning. Happened to me in the last couple of weeks too, and I have done nothing special.. Haven't found a specific pattern yet.
