Hello,

I am eagerly awaiting getting a macbook pro, but I just need a little convincing:). I dont truly need to get the macbook pro now, but im finding it extremely hard to wait, and i am very excited about getting it. but, is it a big mistake to not wait for merom, or any spec bump coming in the next few days/weeks? I want a computer that will last a long time, and I'm worried that not getting merom will decrease the longevity of the computer. If i stock it with 2GB of ram, 2.16Ghz, would it be enought to last several years? basically, im trying to rationalize not waiting (childish i know), but please help:rolleyes:

EDIT: i will probably want to do play games (in boot camp), as well as i will be bringing it to college, and want power so that i can have many programs open at once, and so i will not have to upgrade down the road.

EDIT(2): In general, would this be capable of running games at very high settings (at least for a few months)??? Id think 2.16Ghz 2gb ram would be great for games, but appearantly macs arent good for games? i would use boot camp tho

I'm on my mbp, and truthfully, I don't think I could stand waiting. Time after time after time people have told me this machine is going to last me a long time- with or without merom. I plan on keeping it at least 3 years, and hopefully 4. I'm not worried I won't be able to use it because itš not merom.

You basically described my situation - I need it for college, I'm a gamer (not hardcore, but I do play WoW/ SW: EAW), and I just can't stand waiting. My computer now is perfectly capable of doing what it needs to do.. but.. but..!

I was even trying to convince my mother to get a MacBook to replace her computer so I'd have a "project" until I get mine. :D

purchase what you need, when you need it and you will have nothing to worry about. i think that if you needed it now, you would not be waiting. i mean if you dont need it, wait. it will be cheaper, faster, and with 10.5 or w/e. just my two cents
