I don’t know if I have a defective iPhone X, or if a complete restore is needed, but this thing has issues all the time. I get poor LTE reception, jerky animations when unlocking the phone, randomly can’t save, edit, or share photos, wireless charging stops, and more I can’t think of at the moment.

If I don’t reboot the phone about once per week, problems persist. It’s like having an old Blackberry!

Suggestions before doing a complete restore?

I have seen and heard these complaints many times. It would seem that the iPhone X is not a rock solid device, even though there are countless happy customers out there. I'm talking higher defect/issue rates that are just a tiny fraction of a percent but when applied to tens (if not hundreds) of millions of devices sold, it really adds up.

Based on what I see on my bench, the iPhone 6S is the most solid device. The iPhone 7 is a disaster already and its barely 2 years old, on par with the 6 Plus...maybe even worse. I fear that the X will be at those levels as well once it starts aging.

Do a good backup via iTunes or iCloud and then do a full DFU Restore to install fresh copy of iOS. At this point, you probably should have gone back to your Apple store to complain, more than once if necessary. Eventually, they may offer you a free replacement device...although that one will be refurbished.

I just did a reset. Then restored from my latest backup. Hopefully this helps. If not, then I'll be contacting Apple to see what's next. Unfortunately there is no Apple Store here, the closest one is over 200 miles away.

See what happens this time. If it repeats, wipe it and ‘use as new device’ without restoring your backup.

If it happens again then contact Apple to organise a repair or replacement.
