I bought a Macbook Pro (M1 with 8GB ram and 256GB of storage).

I got it a couple of days ago and at first it would not let me watch youtube videos for more than a minute or it would just freeze up, screen turns purple/black and it reboots.

I saw that I had not updated to the latest version of macOS so I did that and it was much better, but there is still a rebooting issue.

I can now use it to watch several youtube videos at once but after some use it does the same thing, freezez up, screen turns purply/black and it reboots. Usually it happens every 90min now.

I did a diagnostic test and it came back ADP000 (No error) so I guess it is not a hardware issue.

What could it be? Is there some way to see/find out what could cause the problem?

Also, I don't have any accessories plugged in, only thing I used is the charger.

I think I found a solution. I have been running the computer for several hours now without any issues :).

What I did was I turned off "Enable location service" under "Security and Privacy" in System Preferences.

I will continue to test if it holds up but so far it is looking good.

If it makes you feel better, I have the same problem and I've reinstalled Big Sur for 4 times already with no help.

Read my last reply, it solved everything for me, now it has been on for 5h strait and I keep throwing heavy tasks at it, no reboot or problems at all.

I've had nothing but issues with my Air since purchase in February. The same issue as you describe. I found it was an issue with the bluetooth. Apple were unable to diagnose any hardware issues, so now I use wired headphones (prefer them anyway tbh) and haven't had a problem since. If your machine does this again, it'll come up with a "Your computer restarted because of a problem" window and there is usually an indication in the provided error report as to what caused the restart.

It honestly could be a software issue. This is gen 1 hardware and software. Therefore AS Macs won't be as stable as Intel Macs for maybe as long as 2-3 years.

sidetrack:
The same could happen to 12th gen Intel chips as Alder Lake is moving to big.Little arch. This is the first time in x86 for this type so expect issues as well and bugs for the first few years.

So for stability AMD Zen 3 might be the best bet for PC users.

Almost 24h update:
Not a single problem now. Used with all kinds of apps, put it to sleep and back to life again, no issues.
Just that little change in settings helped me that much, insane.

My guess is it is a software issue mostly, at least I hope so.
The last 24h I used the computer has been amazing though, it's so snappy, no heat at all and quiet.

Everything seems to work well but now Bluetooth stopped working, is this common? Is there a fix?

I erased and reinstalled macOS because I could not get bluetooth to work.
Now it has been going for a couple of hour at least, no problem.
I will run the system for some hours before I install something, maybe this way I can rule stuff out.

Been using it for the whole day, no problem at all now.
Erasing and reinstalling seemed to fix it, let's see what will happen within 7 days...

Been using it for about 12h today, no problem what so ever. It seems a clean install just fixed everything...

Update:
Been using the computer every day for at least 10h/day, no reboot issues or other issues at all.
Everything is working perfect now, only problem is Mail does not have TSL 1.2...

Been using the computer every day since my last update (except Sundays) and no reboot/crash issues ever. Stable as a rock so you can imagine how happy I am :).
Everything that was working on my old MacBook Air from 2014 is now working on the MacBook Pro M1 and yes, IT IS THE BEST COMPUTER I HAVE EVER OWNED (I have a Lenovo P1 as well for Solidworks).
