That's the question folks. I know the port was nothing to write home about at least last time I tried it for performance reasons. That was on a mid-2011 iMac at the time. I now have a 27" late-2013 iMac with a Nvidia Geforce GTX 775M 2048 MB GPU, 8 gigs of ram and 3.4 Core i5 CPU.

So, could Guild Wars 2 now be expected to run decently on that hardware at least with medium if not better graphics settings?

Is the port and I use the term loosely, finally out of beta?

It's a game I might enjoy but I am not going to reboot to Windows over it. So that is out.

It runs great for me on mostly med/high settings on my MBP, the only time I have to lower my settings is for WvW zerg fights. But normal playing i get around 35-40fps without issues.

I can run it at 3200x1800 on my 5k iMac (M295X). It runs good enough, but certainly in Windows the performance would be better.

The port continues to be "beta." It works well enough, i.e. updates go through smoothly, and I don't remember many game breaking bugs. You should be able to get decent performance on your mac.

I just got the game, and whenever I try to launch, I just get stuck on a black windowed screen.
I think the game does launch, as the mouse changes from a normal pointer to cursor to type at different places.

Anybody else experience this or have a clue as to what to do?

What version of the OS are you running? It won't run under Snow Leopard and that's usually what you saw if you tried. Might launch one time, but the next, black screen.

I was having the same black screen launcher issue with the new public beta, so I went ahead and downgraded from that to 10.10.2 for now. Works again, I think it has something to do with the java in the launcher, it was an issue with minecraft and some other games in the past. I should clarify that every game that I have that has a launcher was having the same issue so I know it wasn't just guildwars.

It's no port, it is a Cider wrapper, hence why it has Beta top of screen.

Late '13 rMBP "15 w/nVidia.

Game runs beautifully smooth at 1080p. The only problem with it is occasionally on certain boss fights, textures occasionally get crazy, and the client crashes shortly after. This never seems to happen during gameplay outside of those few problematic bosses.

As a side note, even manually setting the fans to max, the machine runs over 90c. Not sure what can be done, if anything, to have it run cooler.

The "max" on OS X is pretty low compared to Windows. The game runs really bad on my iMac 2012 27" with the GeForce GTX 680MX. At least bad to my personal taste.
