I did the latest firmware update few days ago and went through that series of boots. It's a shame on me that I didn't jog down the ROM revision info before the update. According to the this link:

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1337

The FM Rev should be MBA31.0061.B01 after the update.

My MBA 13 is still read MBA31.0061.B00 after I thought I did the update. Does that mean the update didn't go through? Am I missing something?

Did you have your power cord connected? If not, then it might not have run. Check Software Update again and see if it detects that you need the EFI update. If so, plug it in and see if it runs.

That was it!!!!

I just did the check update again. Sure enough, It said there is one update. This time I plugged in power and did the update. It updated successfully (Oh, there was NO crazy reboot loop). My MBA is now says the correct ROM revision.

For those who made the attempt to update firmware without AC power. You might have to do it again. :D
