Recent WiFi issues with 2013 MacBook Pro

I am using a Virgin Media Superhub 2 along with Develo 1200+ wifi ac. This has been working fine for years. Just recently though when connected to my wifi the signal is low and drops out a lot. I am close to the router when this happens.

When using this downstairs, this would be connected now to the Develo wifi and it is fine.

The strange thing is, when I am upstairs again and close to the router, I have made a guest wifi and when I connect to that the signal is fine. Could this be a MacBook issue or maybe the router?

The Guest wifi is probably 2.4GHz whereas the main one is 5GHz. Try rebooting the router and see if it picks another 5GHz channel that works better.

Both are broadcasting in 2.4 and 5GHz. Have tried rebooting a few times over the days.

How old is your router? I ask because over the years I noticed many consumer routers seem to die a slow death after 3 years!
