I haven’t deleted any app the last days. But the battery usage says one deleted app causes background activity. I don’t even know which one it is. iPhone feels warm and battery is draining very fast.

Does someone else have any idea what it could be?

Go to settings and try "reset all settings." You will have to set your screen and Wifi passwords again etc. If you are still having problems after that, a DFU restore should solve the problem.
 
Hmm… thank you. I have switched from XS Max to 13 Pro Max today and before I give it to its new owner I should make a DFU restore.

You probably don't need to use the DFU method but definitely wipe it the normal way.
