Sorry if this sounds like a dumb post because I am a new to this...

My friend recently dropped his 1g iphone, and the glass shattered so he got an 3g and gave his 1st generation to me. It still works fine, however, after I restored it, the first couple times I used it, it kept saying on the iphone "waiting for activation" however it would still let me use it. I'm wondering if I need to do anything... Should I leave the previous sim card in there (I won't be buying a plan for a while) or should I take it out? Once I do buy the plan is there anything I need to do?

BTW: Is there a way to just replace the glass on the iphone instead of the whole lcd display? I heard it's really hard, but I'm up for a challenge. :D

First off, on the first gen phone you have to replace the LCD...the glass is attached to the LCD.

Was the phone unlocked/Jailbroken? If all you want to do is use it as an iPod for now and its working there is nothing else you need to do.

so it's impossible to replace just the glass? I've seen many, many places selling just the glass for the 1st generation iphone...
