Reclaiming space.

I've been considering buying an additional hard drive for my Windows partition on my Mac Pro, so I can move my Windows partition off the main Mac hard drive to a drive of it's own (so access to it doesn't slow down everything else).

Is it possible to reclaim that space for Mac usage without a reinstall? If not, I can do all this when Snow Leopard arrives :)

Boot camp won't allow you run Windows from a separate hard drive (whether it be USB, Firewire, etc.), only from an internally connected, partitioned hard drive. I went through this same situation recently. Your best bet? What I did: I already had a 250GB external firewire drive that I bought for the sole purpose of doing this, but instead, I swapped it for my internal drive, used Winclone and Superduper, resized my BC partition after putting my backed-up Leopard back on, and now I have 125 gigs of space each for Windows and Mac, no external drive needed. Good luck!

Thanks. Since I still have available internal bays, I can buy an inexpensive SATA drive for Windows.

Or do something completely crazy like buy a decent SSD, make it my Mac system disk, and use the current boot disk for Windows.
