I find myself looking for a good co-op game for MacMan and I. Ideally something of a shooter, that we can play together (not looking for online with public players).

We have COD MW, but of course the only mode it does is PvP and 1 on 1 is dull, dull , dull.

So other than Borderlands2 who can suggest some games that we can play together (LAN) and has some longevity to it?

Macman prefers the shooters (akin to Doom, Quake, COD etc). I like these too, but really want something like a cod single player campaign, that we can play together as a team.

Any help here would be great people.

(I have read that Black Ops supports co-op campaign, but I am a bit unsure as to Win vrs Mac as I have it for Windows and steam doesn't let me have the mac version for nowt, trying to keep the pennies in check). - also if it only does 'zombies' in co-op I fear its long term appeal will fade quickly.

Thankee sai xx

A Coop, story-based FPS that's LAN-based, and does NOT center on zombies?

Is that basically it? LOL You don't ask for much.

My mind is blanking on an answer, so I hope the brain trust has some resolutions.

You might find the Portal 2 Co-op entertaining. Team Fortress II and Alien Swarm are also good ones to play. The RAGE multiplayer, despite not being a true co-op, is also good fun.

As suggested, Portal 2 has co-op campaign.
It's not that long, but there are tons of custom campaigns too.
I've played around 25 hours of Portal 2 co-op

The Left 4 Dead Series, simply outstanding coop despite the zombies. Tons of replay value. :)

Agreed, and I was definitely thinking about L4D2 when I read the OP's question. The coop elements are really perfectly balanced. You cannot win alone.

Seriously, you just described Serious Sam 3: BFE.
Full co-op campaign.
Competitive co-op campaign mode (Beast Hunt).
Cross-platform multiplayer.
Good developer support.
Available on Steam.

Thanks for the tips guys n gals - I will have a good look at the serious sam 3. Also l4d seems a winner (will just put up with the zombies).

Well left4dead 2 just popped up on steams sale for less than £4 so its the winner for now. I will keep an eye on borderlands 2 tho.

... Sigh life was much simpler back 'in the day' - best multiplayer game we had undoubtedly: Dynablaster (or bomberman to some).

Let me know if you want to play L4D2 sometime. My name is formoria on steam.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist is one of the best co-op games I've played. Third-person shooter/stealth genre. Two players only for the co-op aspect of it.
