Hey folks,

Coming from the Windows front I really miss Optiperl that is unfortunately Windows only, does anyone know of a mac equivalent that is nice to use?

Activestate brought Komodo over to OS X a while back. Some people love that IDE, others don't care for it, but at least they have a free trial.

Emacs, SubEthaEdit, and Vim are nice, but they are text editors, not IDEs.

Emacs is more than an IDE. It's almost an operating system, given all the things you can do from it.
But maybe nobody wrote any IDE capabilities for Perl (I don't know as I don't care).
